Benoît BOTTALA, alias Steek, est un artiste autodidacte Guadeloupéen 3 fois champion du monde de bodypainting consécutivement, ses oeuvres puisent leurs inspirations dans les couleurs de son île et la diversité des femmes.
À travers ses portraits et corps mêlés, il interroge les inégalités et la perception du monde propre à chacun.
Son style associe transparence et superposition de fines écritures, écho à son passé de graffeur et à une quête de lâcher prise. Il joue avec les textures et les strates, pérennisant à une lecture multiple de ses oeuvres.
Explorant également la sculpture, il travaille l’argile et le béton, prolongeant ainsi l’approche de son art en volume. Cette démarche favorise l’improvisation et la spontanéité. Issu du graffiti et du bodypainting, il cherche aujourd’hui à immortaliser son travail en laissant une trace indélébile au travers de son activité d’atelier.
Steek ne désire pas seulement à créer du beau, mais cherche aussi à provoquer réflexion et émotion. Il pousse le spectateur à prendre le temps, à observer, dans une société où tout s’accélère.
Que ce soit sur mur, toile ou corps, son regard critique capte l’évolution du monde, oscillant entre ombre et lumière.

Benoît BOTTALA, also known as Steek, is a self-taught artist from Guadeloupe, 3 times world bodypainting champion in raw, whose work draws inspiration from the vibrant colors of his island and the diversity of women.
Through his intertwined portraits and bodies, he explores inequality and the unique perception each individual has of the world.
His style combines transparency with layers of fine script, a nod to his graffiti roots and a pursuit of letting go. He plays with textures and layers, inviting multiple interpretations of his work.
Also exploring sculpture, he works with clay and concrete, extending his artistic approach into volume. This process encourages improvisation and spontaneity.
Coming from a background in graffiti and body painting, he now seeks to give his work permanence by leaving an indelible mark through his studio practice.
Steek’s goal is not only to create beauty, but also to provoke thought and emotion.
He encourages the viewer to take time and observe, in a world where everything is speeding up.
Whether on a wall, a canvas, or a body, his critical gaze captures the evolving world, constantly shifting between shadow and light.

A través de sus retratos y cuerpos entrelazados, cuestiona las desigualdades y la percepción del mundo propia de cada persona. Su estilo combina transparencia y superposición de escrituras delicadas, en eco a su pasado como grafitero y a una búsqueda de soltura. Juega con las texturas y las capas, invitando a una lectura múltiple de sus obras.
Explorando también la escultura, trabaja con arcilla y hormigón, prolongando así su enfoque artístico hacia el volumen. Este proceso favorece la improvisación y la espontaneidad.
